VIDEO : Kepa Arrizabalaga’s Girlfriend Explains Penalty Miss As Tuchel Reacts
Kepa Arrizabalaga’s girlfriend has urged the ‘real’ Chelsea fans to support the goalkeeper after his penalty miss in the Carabao Cup final.
Chelsea were defeated on penalties by Liverpool in an intriguing contest, during which Arrizabalaga was the villain.
The Spaniard had been substituted late on by boss Thomas Tuchel particularly for the shootout.
He had been the hero in the Blues’ European Super Cup victory against Villarreal in August.
However he was nowhere close to any of Liverpool’s penalties after which he blazed his over the bar as Tuchel’s gamble to take out man-of-the-match Edouard Mendy didn’t pay off.
Now, his girlfriend, former Miss Universe winner Andrea Martinez, has beckoned the Chelsea’s fanbase to rally round his man.
“One of the things I’ve learnt when I was a basketball player was {that a} team is all the time a team. There aren’t any heroes, there aren’t any villains,” the model, who was present at Wembley, wrote on Instagram.
“In my personal opinion it is a very unfair situation and I am not simply speaking about the moment.
“@kepaarrizabalaga we’re so pleased with you, as a goalkeeper and much more as an individual.
“Humble, good, kind, generous, clever, hard worker, gifted and probably the most stunning soul I’ve ever met.
“That is simply the small line of a huge book. Let’s go my boy, let’s go guys. Love you.”
Tuchel believed it was ‘harsh’ that Arrziabalaga was the person to miss the essential spot-kick.
The German felt no remorse over his controversial decision to exchange Mendy.
“We feel bad for [Kepa], in fact. It was a bit harsh that he was the man to miss the one and only penalty however there is no blame,” Tuchel mentioned.
“I take the decisions when I take the decisions and I can’t re-judge them when I know the result.
“We do not know what would’ve occurred if we left Edou on the pitch.
“No blame on Kepa. Blame on me as I am the man who takes the decisions. Sometimes it really works out, sometimes it doesn’t. That is life as a football coach.”
